What is Membership?
- Access to the shooting ranges on the Club property during normal hours
How long is a membership?
- The Gatlinburg Sportsman's Club operates on a yearly membership renewal cycle from November 1 through October 31.
Can I just come up for a day?
- No, membership is yearly, we do not have short term access or gun rentals
Can I join anytime?
- Yes, you can join anytime! Applications take about a week to process (but up to 3 weeks).
Your membership then renews at the beginning of the next yearly cycle. Read the cost breakdown further below for details.
What is required?
- Agreement to abide by all range safety rules
- Ability to legally own a firearm
- Completion of a standard background check
- Complete the Membership Application Form online, or by paper and mail it in to our PO BOX
Please note the following
- Please include your application and check in the same envelope if applying by mail.
- If applying online, be on the look out for an invoice/payment link that will be sent to your email, and remit payment quickly.
- Either online or by mail, be on the look out for the Background Check request sent to your email. We do not personally handle any sensitive information, and use BackgroundChecks.com to process these. You will be directed to a secure online form to complete. Please do so promptly.
- You must read the Orientation Program and be able to provide the Validation Code found hidden within the document.
- We also need a good forward facing photo that is clear, recognizable, and shows your face to print on your name badge; like a professional or passport photo.
- Please be patient when applying, we are a nonprofit volunteer organization and it takes time for the printing of a badge and a RFID chip to be programmed for your gate access. Application processing will not begin until your application and your check/online payment has been received.
Membership Cost Breakdown:
CLUB YEAR: November 1, through October 31, of each year
2025-2026 DUES: Annual dues will be $150, starting November 1, 2025
INITIATION FEE: $100 which applies to new members and to former members who have let their membership lapse.
BACKGROUND CHECK FEE: $25 and is required for all new or lapsed members.
TOTAL NEW MEMBER COST (STARTING NOV 1 2025):
$150 (2025-26 dues)
+ $100 initiation fee
+ $25 background check
= $275 total
CURRENT MEMBER RENEWAL (ON NOV 1 2025):
$150 for 2025-26
If you join between December and July, your dues are pro-rated out of $150 based on how many months until the next November 1st. ($150 / 12 months = $12.50 per month)
If you join in August, September, or October, you'll pay dues for the remaining months plus the full dues for the following membership year. (And if it is more than halfway thru the month, don't worry: we'll reduce the cost for the partial month.)
NO ACTIVE EMAIL ADDRESS FEE: We must be able to communicate with our members. We do this via email because most members have and read their email. For the remaining members, we can mail out communications via USPS, which is time-consuming and costs. Therefore, there is a $20 fee per year is you do not have (or read from) an email account.

To renew membership:
Online: current members should receive an emailed renewal invoice mid-September or early October, with a "PAY NOW" button.
By Mail: send your check to our address before the yearly cycle starts again (November 1).
In Person: You may pay by cash/check in person at the Annual Family Day & Picnic, October 25, 2025.
If you didn't receive your renewal invoice, please check your spam or junk folder in your email. You can also contact the club Treasurer at 865-436-0271.
